Comprehensive psychiatric assessments are generally completed over 2 – 4 sessions. This allows time to explore your concerns and develop an understanding of your mental health and current circumstances.
Based on the assessment, ongoing psychiatric care and psychotherapy may be offered if suitable.
Ongoing psychiatric care aims to work collaboratively to optimise your mental health, development management plans to improve function and support recovery.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a form of talking therapy that aims to improve mental health and wellbeing by helping people develop a deeper understanding of their emotional life, sense of self, and relationships. Within a safe space and a therapeutic relationship, both conscious and unconscious aspects of experiences are explored.
Dr Cheng offers medium to long term psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Sessions are typically weekly in frequency.
Please note that Dr Cheng does not offer crisis services.
